iPhone 7/7 Plus – Doesn’t connect to iTunes with Windows Vista or older versions.

Getting an iPhone 7/7 Plus? And you plan to restore backed up data from your pc or laptop running on Windows Vista or older versions?

Then let me tell you this will not work. iPhone 7 & 7 Plus are not compatible with Windows Vista and older versions & iTunes 12.3.1.

If you have your old device your job is easy. Just take backup on a pc or laptop running with Windows 7 or later.

Other option is backup the data from old phone to iCloud.

If you don’t have your old device then the only way you can get your data restored is by moving the backup to another laptop which supports iphone 7/7 plus.

But this process is not so simple as it sounds so! It will surely work if you follow below steps.

  1. You will need an iPhone which is running on iOS 10 and which is compatible with Windows Vista. (preferably 6, 6S, 6 Plus or 6S Plus)
  2. Restore data from old pc or laptop to this phone.
  3. Backup data on another pc or laptop which is running with latest windows.
  4. Restore this on your new iphone.

There is no other solution which I found working except this.

Do let me know if you get to know about any alternate solution.
